The Stan Smith is a shoe that needs no introduction : Launched in the seventies as a professional shoe and pulled off the market after several decades as one of the best-selling trainers of all time, Adidas have wisely decided to re-issue their classic Stan Smith trainer style. First introduced back in 1965 as a tennis shoe named after tennis player Robert Haillet, the company later re-launched the shoe renamed after player Stan Smith, nicknamed the ‘Gentleman of the Courts’, under a new partnership in 1972. The legendary sneaker has always been a fixture in style and sport thanks to it’s minimal profile and clean uncomplicated lines. To celebrate the return of the Stan Smith, a host of international talent from the worlds of music, sport and screen came together to show what the sneaker means to them:
“A lot of people now think I’m a shoe. They don’t even know I was a tennis player. The shoe has really taken on a life of its own, way beyond me” – Stan Smith
The leather options are already available from the 15th of January and you can get the suede trainers in March.
